Funders for Race Equality Alliance - Funding audit: current practice in racial justice funding
13 May | 15:30-16:15
The Funders for Race Equality Alliance (also known as the Alliance) is a group of charitable foundations working together to advance race equality in the UK.
One of the Alliance’s aims is to increase the amount of funding that is allocated to the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic sector and to racial justice work. To achieve this, we need to be able to track how both project funding and core funding changes over time.
The Alliance designed a simple audit tool to enable funders to analyse their portfolios, support great transparency of current foundation expenditure and to help funders develop targets and strategies to ensure they are properly supporting race equality work.
At this session, Saphia Youssef (Equally Ours) and Josh Cockcroft (Esmee Fairbairn) will present the first cohort of audit results and discuss how funder thinking and practice has been altered as a result of the racial justice funding audit.

In this session, you will hear from the Ubele Initiative about their research and what actions funders can and should take to make sure that Black and Minoritised organisations are supported beyond the covid-19 crisis.
