What do grassroots groups need to thrive?

The Greater London Authority and the Social Change Nest host an interactive workshop about the most effective ways to support small grassroots groups.

The GLA has funded 127 small grassroots organisations over three years from the Building Strong Communities Fund and are in the process of reviewing how they give out grants. The Social Change Nest fiscally hosts and supports a community of over 400 unincorporated groups - they’ve helped distribute over £19 million and connect on a daily basis with changemakers to understand their needs.

We’ve both been hearing the same questions and challenges emerge time and time again and are keen to share our learnings with others, as well as facilitate an open, honest discussion about the most effective ways to support small grassroots groups. Should it be grant giving or something else? If it is grant giving - what should that look like?

Through an interactive workshop, we will hold space for insights-sharing and collaborative innovation so that we can build better infrastructure for grassroots groups to thrive. The information we gather from the session could help influence future GLA policy and shape the future of SCN’s support services to groups.

The Festival is open to all members of London Funders. Unless otherwise specified, we are not able to accept bookings from non-members. If you’re a funder and interested in becoming a London Funders member, please find out more here.
