Black-led organisations in London drive social change but remain underfunded and excluded from decision-making. This session is a chance for funders to pause and reflect on a critical question: how can we better support the long-term sustainability of Black-led organisations in London—not just through funding, but through shifting power and creating space? Do it Now Now will explore the key findings from the ‘Beyond the Cliff Edge’ report, which outlines four areas where funders can make a real difference: capacity building, local leadership, influence and advocacy, and community wealth. Participants will explore what’s not working: short-term funding cycles, exclusion from decision-making spaces, and burdensome expectations placed on under-resourced organisations. And spotlight what can work: participatory grant-making, peer-led leadership development, multi-year unrestricted funding, and building financial resilience through models like London Now Now.
Participants will leave this session with practical insights and real-life examples of how to move from performative allyship to meaningful partnership. The focus of the workshop will bring to light the benefits in supporting Black-led organisations not just to deliver services—but to lead change, shape policy, and build lasting community wealth.
The Festival is open to all members of London Funders. Unless otherwise specified, we are not able to accept bookings from non-members. If you’re a funder and interested in becoming a London Funders member, please find out more here.
