Intersectionality in funding practice

Join Disability Rights UK for a session on how to integrate intersectionality in your funding practices.

Drawing upon Disability Rights UK's expertise and learning in intersectional work, coproduction and accessibility, the session will offer a deep dive into the practical implementation of intersectionality within funding organisations. Through presentations, discussions, and interactive exercises, participants will explore strategies for moving beyond the theoretical understanding of intersectionality towards evidence-based and effective strategies. We will examine the critical components of intersectional funding, including:

  • Developing schemes that facilitate intersectional projects.
  • Empowering organisations led by individuals with intersectional experiences.
  • Dismantling barriers to funding for groups supporting intersectional communities.

Discussions will cover nuanced topics such as power dynamics, equity considerations, language accessibility, and the impacts of incorporating intersectionality on evaluation outcomes. We will also hear from intersectional disabled Disabled People's Organisations (DPOs) who are part of the UK’s intersectional DPO forum. Their experiences will provide invaluable insights into the challenges and successes of intersectional work and offer practical guidance and inspiration for funders seeking to enhance their impact through an intersectional lens.
