If the system is broken, how can funders help fix it?

In this interactive workshop, the Curiosity Society tell the inside story of what it means to change a system in real life.

The Nationwide Foundation and the Curiosity Society have been working together on systems change in housing for three years. We’ll tell the inside story of what it means to change a system in real life: beyond the theory. In this interactive workshop, we aim to demystify systems change, and help our audience learn why we’d advise our former selves:

  • To work out how to see the system we want to change
  • How to choose grants that shift the conditions holding the problems in place?
  • How humans respond to systems change: people are in the system; and people are the system
  • What it means to change the funding system to change the [housing, health, welfare, any other] system
  • Where best to place grants as a lever to change a system
  • How to spot glimpses of the future in the present
  • Why funding connectivity matters as much as funding activity
  • Why the right speed for systems funding is decades not years
  • Why simplifying systems is tempting, and wrong!
  • How to create a new imagination of the future

The Festival is open to all members of London Funders. Unless otherwise specified, we are not able to accept bookings from non-members. If you’re a funder and interested in becoming a London Funders member, please find out more here.
