For many endowed funders, investment decisions and grantmaking strategy can feel like separate conversations. But what happens when funders come together to compare approaches, pool intelligence and align their long-term investment decisions around shared social goals — and what can that teach the rest of the sector?
This session draws on learning from the Endowments Investing Challenge, a structured programme that brought together funders, advisers and asset managers to explore these questions in practice. Cripplegate Foundation, Friends Provident Foundation and charity partners will share what they learned from participating — including how the process shifted board-level conversations, and what collective funder action made possible that individual funders acting alone could not. This year the Challenge also convened a Future Generations Panel, and we will hear directly from young people involved about what it was like to advise participating charities and put challenging questions to asset managers about long-term values and social goals.
The session is designed for endowed funders at any stage of thinking about mission-aligned investment, with space for peer reflection and discussion.
