Following the passage of the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill, new neighbourhood governance arrangements are being introduced across the country. The opportunity is significant, but realising it will require communities to be genuinely in the driving seat, and funders to play an active enabling role.
This session brings together We’re Right Here and Power to Change to explore what that means in practice. We’re Right Here will draw on their Blueprint for Community-Powered Neighbourhood Governance to set out what genuinely community-led arrangements look like and what funders need to invest in to support them. Power to Change will share learning from their community-led local governance demonstrator, what they have been testing on the ground, what has shifted, and what it reveals about the conditions that enable communities to lead rather than simply participate.
Together, the session asks how funders can best support communities to make the most of this moment as the new governance landscape takes shape.
This session will be particularly relevant if you are thinking about how to respond to the devolution moment and invest in neighbourhood governance that puts communities in control of their local areas.
